Departure from Quito:
From your place of stay in Quito, we will leave in our car for approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes to our first point. On the way, we will make a stop at the “Avenue of the Volcanoes”. With a favorable climate, you will be able to observe the impressive volcanoes: Illinizas, Pasochoa, Corazón, Cotopaxi and Tungurahua.
First Stop: Tigua Crafts
Our first stop will be in the community of Tigua, famous for its crafts. You will visit an art gallery where painters portray their surroundings with hand paintings on llama and sheep leather. These works of art are known for their vibrant color and for depicting everyday life in the Andes. Then we will continue for 30 more minutes to our next stop.
Second Stop: Toachi River Canyon
Our next stop is the impressive Toachi River Canyon, a striking example of the eruptive power of the Quilotoa volcano. This 40 meter high canyon is approximately 1,800 years old. From here, we will travel about 25 more minutes until we reach Quilotoa Lagoon.
Third Stop: Quilotoa Lagoon
We will equip ourselves with warm clothing, sunscreen and comfortable shoes for our third stop in which we will visit the Quilotoa Lagoon. On a walk to the viewpoint, you will be able to observe the lagoon from above in all its splendor. Then, you can walk to the edge of the lagoon along a path of approximately 2 kilometers, a journey of about 30 minutes. Here, you will enjoy activities such as boat rides or kayaking (boat and kayak not included). The return time varies depending on your physical condition. At the site you also have the option of renting a mule to facilitate the climb (mule transportation not included). At this point, you will also be able to have lunch before continuing our trip to Baños de Agua Santa.
Arrival at Baños
To get to Baños, we will cross several cities such as Latacunga, Ambato and Pelileo. In the latter, if the weather permits, we will make a stop to watch the sunset and the Tungurahua volcano in the distance.

Visit the Limpiopungo Lagoon
Our 1st stop will be the beautiful Limpiopungo Lagoon, where we will take a walk to observe animals such as the paramo wolf and the curiquingue, as well as typical plants such as the chuquiragua. Then, we will go to the José Rivas refuge (4,864 meters above sea level). Here, you will have the option of taking a walk of approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to enjoy the vast areas of moorland and have a delicious Box Lunch.
